ALPHETON PARISH COUNCIL
Alpheton Parish Council is pleased to announce the purchase of two Speed Indicator Devices. The devices were successfully deployed at two sites in Alpheton on Sunday 23rd May 2021.
The SID’s will be operational in Alpheton and Bridge Street on poles erected at six sites approved by Suffolk County Council.
The Police recommend moving SIDs around sites on a monthly basis and a rota/timetable will be agreed shortly. SIDs can face in either direction and will be swiveled around as required.
Data from the SIDs is recorded on each device providing Councillors with valuable information relating to traffic volume, speed and compliance down to an hourly and daily basis.
It is hoped that this will help alleviate the problems residents have experienced with noise and speeding through the Villages.
Our thanks go to Cllr Trevor Rix for his extensive research into the most suitable device; to Cllr John Moore and his ‘Crew’ of Volunteers who helped install and will continue to assist in the deployment of the SIDs to their allocated sites, and to Suffolk County Council for their support and advice.
