The final episode of Masters of the Air is now out and I though I should say something about it.
Masters of the Air is a new WWII TV mini-series. "Masters of the Air" is based on the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller. Like the now-Legendary HBO Series "Band of Brothers" (Currently available to stream on Sky in the UK) which followed Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), 101st Airborne Division, Masters of the Air follows the 100th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force.
The series follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group from their early entry in the war. The "Bloody Hundredth" Bomb Group Flew 306 combat missions during the war. Just as the 506th PIR told the story of the ground troops in WWII, the 100th Bomb Group is a vehicle for telling a larger story about the "Mighty Eighth'' Air Force based in England during World War 2.
The Lavenham airfield mostly located within the borders of the parish of Alpheton was host to the "Gentlemen From Hell" 487th Bomb Group which was also part of the 8th Air force. Today the 100th Air Re-fulling Wing based out of RAF Mildenhall carries on the name of the "Bloody Hundredth" and still fly's the distinctive "Square D" tail flash, Aircraft of the 487th Bomb Group flew a similar tail flash with the letter P denoting they were based at Lavenham Airbase.

Masters of the Air is available on Apple TV+ which is £8.99 and has a 7 day free trial. If you recently purchased an apple device you are entitled to 3 months of Apple TV+ for free.
